Rejoice in Recovery FAQs – Momentum Church

  • Is Rejoice in Recovery a Mo Group?
    • No, it is not a traditional Mo Group. It is a twelve-step, Christian/scripture-based support group.

  • What is a “Twelve Step” Group?
    • A twelve-step group is based on the original twelve steps of programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon.
    • We are using The Life Recovery Journal and The Life Recovery Workbook by Stephen Arterburn and David Stoop. These guides take a biblical approach to twelve-step recovery, and originate from New Life Ministries.

  • Is Rejoice in Recovery confidential like other Twelve Step groups?
    • Absolutely. Participants are reminded at every meeting that what is shared in the group stays in the group and is not to be shared with anyone else.

  • Who is Rejoice in Recovery for?
    • Rejoice in Recovery is for anyone – men and women, inside and outside of Momentum Church – who would like support for any type of life struggles, which includes all addictions (alcohol, drugs, pornography, gambling, eating, etc.), emotions (anxiety, depression, anger), difficulty in relationships (conflict, divorce, etc.), life issues, co-dependency, grieving and loss.

  • What is the purpose of Rejoice in Recovery?
    • Our purpose is to grow spiritually, grow in our relationship with God, and support each other with our life struggles.

  • How does Rejoice in Recovery bring in the Bible?
    • Rejoice in Recovery takes the Twelve Steps and references them with Biblical scriptures. For example: Step Two – We came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. Philippians 2:13 God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.

  • Is Rejoice in Recovery group therapy or a support group?
    • Rejoice in Recovery is a support group not a therapy group. No one is here in a professional capacity.

  • What is the format for Rejoice in Recovery?
    • The format is a  90 minute meeting where men and women share their experience, strength and hope. Each meeting will cover one of the Twelve Steps with discussion around that step and its Scripture reference. During meetings, we will be using The Life Recovery Journal and The Life Recovery Workbook.

  • What will be discussed during Rejoice in Recovery meetings?
    • Our discussion will focus on working on ourselves while not judging anyone. Our desire is to improve the quality of our lives while looking honestly at who we are; by learning from, listening to, and sharing with each other; by placing ourselves in the care of our Higher Power Jesus Christ; and by engaging in healthier behaviors.

  • When and where does Rejoice in Recovery meet?
    • Rejoice in Recovery meets on Saturday mornings at 10:00 a.m. in the basement of Momentum Church at 1717 East Aurora Road (Rt. 82), Macedonia, OH (across from Longwood Park). Enter through the west-facing side door.
